Daily Creates 4: Video
This week I really enjoyed the prompts. The first one was to create the dullest video, I think this really showed the importance of adding effects of content to your videos to keep viewers engaged. This also goes alongside teaching as it is important to adjust lessons to your classes so the students are interested and want to follow along while you are teaching. The second prompt was to create/find a short clip that I thought represented freedom. I thought the one I selected was funny. However, it would be interesting to do this with a class or larger group to see how different everyone’s perspectives are/what kinds of approaches they take to creating/finding their videos. The final prompt was to find the number 1 hit single in the UK, on the day you were born. This one was a little random but it would be a fairly easy warmup to get students into a researching mode when they enter the classroom as it is fairly low stakes.
Prompt 1: “Make the dullest video effort”
For this video, I thought what is the most bring thing I could do? The first thing that came to mid was watching paint dry. I used my acrylic paint pen to draw a line on blank white paper and let the video play so you could watch it dry.
Prompt 2: “Freedom and it’s limits”
For this prompt, I instantly thought of a dog sticking it’s head out of a window. I think it is really funny and freeing. I found this clip from the YouTube video, “Why Dogs Stick Their Heads Out Of Car Windows” BBC.
Prompt 3: “Your Birth: Number 1 Hit in the U.K”
The number one hit in the U.K on my birthday June 28th, 2006 was “Maneater” by Nelly Furtado. As I previously mentioned, I found this prompt a little random but I think it would be a good warm up or could be easily altered for what topic someone is searching for on their birthday or another date.
